Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX (February 17, 2004) – Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Robert Dirk announced that the team has acquired forward Chris Taliercio in a trade from the Louisiana. The IceGators received the rights to Josh Bennett, who did not report to Texas after his rights were acquired by the Wildcatters in the Brad Fraser trade.

In an additional roster transaction, goaltender Mark Scally was called up to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. Scally dressed as the backup goalie last night in the Griffins (33-14-8-0) 3-1 win over the Houston Aeros (18-26-10-3). He is expected to dress Wednesday when Grand Rapids plays their second game in Houston.

Scally, 26, becomes the third Wildcatters player to be called up this season. He joins defenseman Tim Branham who is with the Portland Pirates of the AHL, and forward Cory Morgan, who played one game with the Aeros on December 26th.

Taliercio started the year with the now defunct Columbus Stars of the United Hockey League. In 15 games with Louisiana, the 6-foot-1, 210 pound forward had three points (1g,2a).

The Wildcatters travel to Mississippi for a pair of games Friday and Saturday at 7:35 p.m. The team will return home for a game Sunday at 5:05 p.m., against the Louisiana IceGators. Sunday's game is a KFDM Kids Day, with all tickets for children 12 and under just $5.00.
