The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that defenseman Troy Milam has been called up to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

Undrafted out of Ferris State University, Milam represented the Gladiators at the Par-A-Dice ECHL All Star Game in Peoria Illinois on January 21, 2004 where he tallied a goal and an assist for the Western Conference.

"Troy has worked hard all season long," said Gladiator Head Coach Jeff Pyle, "and this is a great opportunity for him at the next level."

In 51 games this season with the Gladiators, Milam has tallied 6 goals, 2 on the power play and one game winner in addition to 24 assists for 30 points on the season. The rookie defenseman attended the AHL's Cleveland Barons training camp before joining the Gladiators in October.

Milam becomes the eight Gladiator called up to the AHL while Manchester is the fourth AHL team to call up a Gladiator this season. The defenseman should be available for the Monarchs 7:00 p.m. start in Lowell on Wednesday.
