Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (February 17, 2004) – The Titans came into tonight's game hoping narrow the gap between themselves and the fifth place Johnstown Chiefs. Despite badly outshooting Bakersfield 36-9 and limiting the Condors to just one shot on goal in the third period, the Titans came out on wrong side of the scoreboard in a 3-2 loss.

Chris Houle, in his return to Trenton, let up all three Condor goals on just seven shots before being replaced by Andrew Allen 6:49 into the 2nd period. Things looked for the Titans, however as Devin Rask opened up the scoring 4:05 into the first period intercepting a cross-ice pass and beating Bakersfield goaltender Shane Bendera through the five-hole. The Titans' lead would not last long, as forward Andrew Ianero put a rebound past Houle to tie the game at one apiece.

The second period would be the backbreaker for Houle and the Titans, as Mike Barrie and Paul Rosebush both got the puck past the rookie goaltender from long range and gave the Condors a 3-1 advantage. After Rosebush's goal at 6:49 of the second period, Andrew Allen came in relief of Houle and shut the door for the remaining 33:11, as the Titans defense allowed only two shots over that span.

In the third period, Titans tried to mount a comeback effort with Chris Pittman scoring his 2nd power play goal in as many games, but it would not be enough. Shane Bendera stopped 35 of 37 shots and 17 of 18 in the third period to give the Condors the win.

The Trenton Titans are a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Trenton Titans play at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ. The Titans continue their home stand with two games against the Bakersfield Condors on Friday, February 20th at 7:30pm, as Rally Towels courtesy of Air Care of New Jersey will be handed out at the doors.
