
Goaltender Ford Returns From AHL

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Cail MacLean announced today that goaltender Todd Ford has returned to the team from the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.
Ford, 25, skated in three games with the Pirates going 3-0-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage. The Calgary, AB native currently has an 18-7-1-1 record with the Stingrays and ranks fifth in the ECHL with a 2.79 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. Earlier this season, Ford appeared in 12 games for the Texas Stars of the AHL going 4-5-1 with a 2.86 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage and recorded two shutouts. A 2010 ECHL All-Star, Ford was named the 2009 ECHL Goaltender of the Month for December.
Drafted in the third round by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2002, Ford reported to the Stingrays after earning a 17-15-1 record in 35 games with the Victoria Salmon Kings in 2008-2009. He spent time in the ECHL and AHL with the Columbia Inferno, Pensacola Ice Pilots and the Toronto Marlies before heading to Victoria.
During the 2008 Kelly Cup playoffs, the 6-foot-4, 176-pound goaltender appeared in all 13 games for Columbia posting an 8-4-1 record with a 2.21 goals-against average and .936 save percentage. Prior to turning pro, Ford spent his entire junior career in the WHL, starring for Swift Current, Prince George and Vancouver.
The Stingrays also announced today that goaltender Beau Erickson has been released.
