Reading's Steiner Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Daniel Steiner of the Reading Royals is the Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 29-April 4.

The 29 year old had eight points (5g-3a) and a plus-minus rating of +7 in three games to help Reading go 2-1-0 for the week. Steiner had two assists on March 31 against Elmira and added a goal in Reading's 7-6 win over Wheeling on April 2. He capped the week off by recording his first 4-goal game and his first 5-point game of his career in an 8-4 win against Trenton on April 3.

Steiner has 42 points (19g-23a) and 28 penalty minutes in 29 games this season with Reading. He has also appeared in 28 American Hockey League games this season with Adirondack and Rochester amassing 20 points (6g-14a) and 10 penalty minutes.

The Bern, Switzerland native is a veteran of 380 Swiss-A Division games with Langnau, Zurich and Rapperswil-Jona from 1999-2009 where he tallied 222 points (108g-114a) and 395 penalty minutes.

On behalf of Daniel Steiner, a case of pucks will be donated to a Reading youth hockey organization by Sher-wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-wood Hockey has donated more than 23,100 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Runners Up: Andrew Fournier, Kalamazoo (3 gp, 1g, 4a, 5 pts.) and Dylan Hunter, Utah (2 gp, 2g, 3a, 5 pts.).

Also Nominated: Dan Kissel (Bakersfield), Milan Gajic (Florida), Evan Barlow (Idaho) and Evan Rankin (Toledo).
