Alaska's Sauer Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Billy Sauer of the Alaska Aces is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 29 - April 4.

The 22 year old went 3-1-0 with a goals-against average of 1.69 and a save percentage of .920 in four starts for the week. He made 81 saves on 88 shots faced over the four games and allowed only one goal in two games. Sauer recorded back-to-back shootout wins over Idaho on March 31 and Stockton on April 2 and finished out the week with a 4-1 win over Stockton on April 3.

This season, the Rochester, New York native has appeared in 16 games with Charlotte, Toledo, Las Vegas and Alaska where he has gone 8-3-1 with a 3.29 goals-against average and a .894 save percentage. He also played 15 games for Lake Erie of the American Hockey League posting a record of 5-7-1 with a goals-against average of 3.09 and a save percentage of .901.

Before turning professional, Sauer played four years at the University of Michigan from 2005-2009 where he went 71-30-8 with eight shutouts, a 2.56 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 114 games.

Runners Up: Richard Bachman, Idaho (1-0-1, 1.50 GAA, .951 save pct.) and Ryan Nie, Kalamazoo (2-0-1, 2.92 GAA, .900 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Timo Pielmeier (Bakersfield), Chris Beckford-Tseu (Florida), Jordan Pearce (Toledo) and Mikko Koskinen (Utah).
