DULUTH, GA - With ten minutes to go in the third, the Gladiators trailed 3-0 with their backs against the wall.

Gwinnett eventually responded, but it was too little too late as the Glads fell 3-2 to the South Carolina Stingrays Saturday night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Gladiators extended their winless streak to seven games, but battled back late when facing a steep deficit in the third.

Andy Brandt got the Glads on the board when he blasted a rocket from the top of the far circle past Rays goaltender Jared DeMichiel at 10:14 to cut the deficit to two.

Ian McKenzie picked up an assist on what would be Brandt's sixth goal of the season. The tally ended a 128:02 minute scoreless drought for the Glads.

Tim Miller then redirected a Will Colbert shot from the blueline at 17:28 to close the gap to one. Mike Forney also picked up an assist on Miller's seventh goal.

Gwinnett's comeback bid took a hit late as Pat Galivan was whistled for a roughing call, and DeMichiel stood on his head the rest of the way to preserve the 3-2 decision.

DeMichiel made 28 saves and was named the number one star while Chris Carrozzi stopped 23 shots for the Gladiators.

Gwinnett failed to capitalize on three first period powerplay opportunities, remaining scoreless with South Carolina through 20 minutes.

The Stingrays struck twice in the second period, as Rob Ricci (8:49) and Tommy Goebel (10:35) found the back of the net less than two minutes apart. Gwinnett had just 11 shots through the first two periods of play.

Trent Campbell beat Chris Carrozzi high blocker side with the eventual game winner at 6:42 of the third to increase the lead to 3-0.
