Gladiators Sign McDonald

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed forward Walker McDonald.

McDonald joins the Gladiators after appearing in one game earlier this season with the Columbia Inferno. McDonald notched an assist and finished +1 in a 3-2 win with Columbia over Pensacola on February 16th.

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native appeared in 3 games last season with Columbia but did not register a point. McDonald collected 8 goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 62 game with Columbia during his final full professional season in 2004-05.

In 9 professional seasons, McDonald has totaled 84 goals and 90 assists for 174 career points in 378 career professional games.

McDonald should be available for the Gladiators for tonight's 7:35 start in Charlotte against the Checkers.

The Gladiators continue their fifth anniversary season on Friday, March 21st as they travel to Charlotte to take on the Checkers at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena at 7:35 p.m. Catch all the play-by-play action in Fridday's game online via Accessnorthga.com on Streaming Channel 3.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
