Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve's final home series in July features a pair of giveaway nights, a pair of fireworks shows, a NASCAR Jersey off the Back Auction Night and a whole heap of fun are on tap for fans beginning this Thursday (July 21) at Blair County Ballpark. The Curve will welcome in the New Britain Rock Cats (AA - Minnesota Twins) for the four-game set that runs through Sunday.
A Thirsty Thursday and the third night in the Nittany Travel Summer Cruise Series will jump start the fun and festivities at BCB on Thursday at 7 p.m. Fans can take advantage of the $2 Yuengling 16 oz. drafts and $1.50 regular-size sodas throughout the game on Thursday night while enjoying some summertime fun.
The first 500 fans 21 & up through the gates on Thursday night will receive a Shot Glass Giveaway courtesy of Yuengling Lager as the third item in the four-part Nittany Travel Summer Cruise Series. The shot glass, which commemorates Tom Cruise's role as bartender Brian Flannigan in the 1988 classic "Cocktail", must be brought back to BCB along with the Aviators (June 16th), Tighty Whiteys (July 7th) and Foam Football (Aug. 4th) on September 4th vs. Richmond to guarantee an entry into the contest to win a cruise for four.
Giveaways continue on Friday night at 7 p.m. as the Curve celebrate the 2010 season of former Curve MVP Jose Bautista with a Jose Bautista Silver Slugger Figurine Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans thanks to Peoples Natural Gas. The 2011 All-Star led the Major Leagues with 54 home runs in 2010 and earned the American League Silver Slugger Award for his breakout performance with Toronto.
Saturday brings the first of two fireworks shows, NASCAR Night presented by Reliable Towing Tire and Auto Center and a Jersey-off-the-Back Auction to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is the only special jersey game of the season and fans will have the chance to bid on the game-used, NASCAR-themed jerseys during the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Also appearing on NASCAR Night will be local Nationwide Series and Camping World Series driver Tim Bainey, Jr., who hails from nearby Osceola Mills, Pa. Tim will bring his Camping World Series Truck to the ballpark on Saturday night for all fans to see and he'll be available for autographs during the game.
The quick four-game homestand comes to a close on Sunday at 6 p.m. with an edition of Sunday Night Fireworks on Cambria County Night presented by Conemaugh Health System and the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat as well as another FREE Galliker's Kids' Club Game. All Kids' Club members will gain free entry into the game by showing their membership card. For those not yet entered into the club, those age 12 and under can be registered at the box office anytime and still gain free admission to the game. Sunday will also feature a mascot-sized birthday party for Steamer, Tenacious, Al Tuna and Diesel Dawg.
Not to be forgotten, kids will be able to run the bases after each of the games Friday through Sunday.
