Cody Simpson to Appear at the Diamond Sunday, July 24th

RICHMOND, VA - The Richmond Flying Squirrels, Double-A Affiliate of the 2010 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, have announced that teen pop singer and international recording artist Cody Simpson will be appearing at The Diamond on Sunday, July 24th, presented by Q94. In addition to his appearance, Simpson will performing his new single "On My Mind" prior to the Flying Squirrels' 5:05 PM game with the Harrisburg Senators.

Simpson's new single, "On My Mind," is currently in rotation in numerous U.S. cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Orlando in addition to Richmond on WRVQ 94.5 FM. The official video for "On My Mind" racked up over 1 million views on YouTube in just one week. Currently, Simpson boasts over 900,000 Twitter followers and over 1.2 million Facebook fans. Overall, he has totaled over 61 million views on YouTube.

The Australian's music career began at age seven when he got his first guitar and began taking lessons. By age 12, he was covering songs originally recorded by artists such as Justin Timberlake, Jason Mraz, and The Jacksons, becoming a YouTube sensation in the process. Simpson signed with Atlantic Records in April of 2010 and released his first single "iYiYi" featuring Flo Rida. His single "All Day" off of his "4U" EP - released in December 2010 - reached the Top 10 at Radio Disney and has also been featured at The Diamond on Sunday Kroger Squirrel Tails Kids Club days. Simpson is currently co-headlining a tour with Miranda Cosgrove and Greyson Chance and will be performing at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., on Saturday, July 23rd, prior to his special appearance at The Diamond.

In addition to his appearance and performance, Simpson will be having a VIP Meet & Greet in HCA "Nutzyville" from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. The first 2,000 fans ages 14 and under will receive a Zinger "Acornament" as part of the Flying Squirrels' "A Christmas Story in July" Celebration presented by Radio Disney. Gates will open at 3:30 PM.
