(Trenton, NJ) - After being deemed the ‚¬Ëœugly' jersey by media, fans and even the players themselves, the patriotic-themed jersey that 12-time MLB All-Star Derek Jeter wore during his rehabilitation assignment for the Trenton Thunder on July 3rd had a silver lining after all. The Thunder and Steiner Sports Marketing are happy to announce that the shortstop's number 2 Thunder jersey was recently sold and the Thunder are donating $2,500 from the sale to Jeter's own Turn 2 Foundation.

The sale of the jersey was brokered by Steiner Sports Marketing, which has exclusive deals with Jeter and the New York Yankees as well as a long-standing partnership with the Trenton Thunder. The jersey was authenticated through MLB's official Authentication Program.

"This is a perfect Minor League Baseball story," said Thunder General Manager Will Smith. "We created a fun promotion that garnered a lot of publicity, had people talking and helped a worthy cause. We thank Derek Jeter for participating and we're thrilled that his own charity will benefit."

Jeter's July 2nd and 3rd rehab assignment in Trenton drew 18,214 fans to Mercer County Waterfront Park. In his two games, Jeter went 2-for-4 with two walks with a run scored.
