November 12, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce goaltender Riley Gill has been loaned to the Worcester Sharks of the AHL.
Entering his first full season as a professional, Gill participated in the training camp of the Columbus Blue Jackets. By being loaned to Worcester, Gill becomes the second member of the K-Wings this season to be sent up to the AHL.
Acquired in a trade with the Victoria Salmon Kings last week, Gill hasn't yet made his season debut with the K-Wings. Currently second amongst all ECHL goaltenders this season with a goals against average of 1.33, Gill went 3-0-0, with Victoria and earned his first pro shutout on 10/15/10 against Idaho. Earlier this week, Gill was named the ECHL's Goaltender of the Month for October.
Gill started his pro career last season with the K-Wings after completing his collegiate career with Western Michigan University. Last season with the K-Wings, Gill went 1-0-1 in the regular season with a goals against average of 2.40. In his first pro game, Gill stopped 36 saves to record his first pro win on 03/20/10 against Wheeling.
In Gill's absence, the K-Wings have signed goaltender Tom Askey.
