
de Kastrozza Nets First Professional Goal in 5-3 Loss to Jackals

Elmira, NY -The South Carolina Stingrays (3-5-1-0) fell to the Elmira Jackals (7-2-3-0) 5-3 in front of 4,007 at First Arena Friday night. Forward Nikita Kashirsky recorded two assists in the loss.
The Stingrays broke open the scoring midway through the first period as forward Maxime Lacroix slipped a wrist shot between the legs of Jackals goaltender Marco Cousineau at 11:46 for his fourth of the year. Defenseman Josh Godfrey and Kashirsky registered the assists. Jackals forward Justin Donati tied the contest at 18:20 from defenseman John de Gray.
Stingrays forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien reclaimed the lead with an unassisted marker at 3:35 of the second period by beating Cousineau with a wrist shot from the bottom of the left-wing circle. Forward David deKastrozza made it 3-1 with his first professional goal at 7:27 from Kashirsky. Elmira pulled within one late in the period as forward Orin Eizenman deflected a shot past Stingrays goaltender Shane Connelly from forward Yannick Tifu at 18:27. Defenseman Chris Frank earned the second assist.
Jackals forward Michael Dubuc tied the contest with his 10 goal of the season at 5:18 of the third period from forward AJ Perry and defenseman Brennan Turner. Elmira grabbed their first lead of the night at 15:21 when de Gray lifted a shot over the glove of Connelly from the left-wing point. Forward Ryan Hillier and defenseman Eric Regan tallied assists. Hillier iced the contest with an unassisted empty-net goal at 19:56.
Connelly suffered the loss kicking away 27 of 31 Jackals shots. Cousineau improved to 4-1-3-0 blocking 18 of 21 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays ended the night 0-for-1 on the power play while Elmira went 0-for-5.
The Stingrays continue their road trip tomorrow, Saturday, November 13 as they battle the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m. at Sovereign Center.
