Florida Everblades News Release
GREENVILLE, SC - The Florida Everblades (7-6-0) dropped their second straight decision to the Greenville Road Warriors (6-3-1), falling 6-3 on Friday night at the BI-LO Center in front of a crowd of 3,210.
Greenville opened the game's scoring late in the first period after a myriad of chances early in the frame by the Everblades. Florida had a number of chances in the opening 20 minutes, including four power play opportunities, but Road Warriors net-minder Dov Grumet-Morris proved to be a force stopping all 11 shots he faced.
The Road Warriors got on the board late in the frame when Julian Bruillette fired a wrist shot from the top of the right crease that beat Everblades goalie Bobby Goepfert over the glove and under the crossbar at 17:43.
Greenville extended its lead in the second period with a pair of power play goals, the first allowed by the Everblades in six games. The first of the power play markers came with the Road Warriors on a two-man advantage and Mark Voakes slammed home a cross ice pass at the right side of the crease at the six-minute mark.
Greenville then opened a three-goal lead at 11:47 when Justin Bowers tired a cross ice pass from the bottom of the left circle that deflected off Everblades defenseman Ethan Graham's skate and into the open net.
The Road Warriors tacked on their fourth goal just over two minutes into the third period on Brendan Connolly first goal of the night and fourth of the season before the Everblades were able to find the back of the net.
Florida's first goal came at 5:26 off the stick of defenseman Phil Paquet who's shot from the right point sailed through traffic and into the back of the net. Elgin Reid and Matt Pistilli picked up the assists on Paquet's first goal of the night.
Greenville responded however with two more goal to open a 6-1 advantage by the 12 minute mark of the frame. Brandon Wong notched the fifth of the night for the Road Warriors at 6:47, then Connolly tacked on his second goal of the night at 11:29.
The Everblades closed out the scoring tacking on a pair of goals in the game's final four minutes. Mitch Fadden extended his point scoring streak to 10 games with his sixth goal after slamming home a power play marker at 16:32 off nice passes by Francis Lemieux and Pistilli.
Lemieux then notched his third goal of the year with 1:16 remaining in regulation, wristing a shot past Grumet-Morris from the high slot off a left wing feed from Pistilli.
In goal Goepfert (4-4-0) suffered the loss allowing the six goals on 34 shots. Grumet-Morris notched his first win after stopping 29 of 32 shots.
On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 1-of-6, while Greenville closed out the game 2-of-6.
