Atlanta Gladiators News Release

With the promotion of leading scorers Ryan Garbutt and Derek Nesbitt coming into Friday night's game in Kalamazoo, there were plenty of questions as to who would step up offensively for the Gladiators (8-2-2).

Pat Galivan and Will Colbert were more than willing to provide an answer.

Galivan scored twice, potting the game-winner and an empty netter in the third to help seal a 3-1 Gladiators win at Wings Stadium. The forward had 42 points in 46 games in Gwinnett last season, and started this year in Chicago (AHL).

Gwinnett has now won three games in a row.

The Wings (5-3-2) took the lead in the first as Kory Karlander notched his sixth of the season to extend his consecutive game point streak to ten at the 12:32 mark.

Gwinnett answered just 65 seconds later, as Will Colbert capitalized on a rebound chance in front for his first goal of the season, assists to Andy Brandt and Danick Paquette. Just like that the game was tied a 1-1 at the end of 20 minutes.

Gwinnett took their first lead of the night 12:02 into the second, as Pat Galivan beat Wings keeper Ryan Nie top shelf point blank for his first of the season in his first game back with the Glads. Will Colbert picked up the assist on the play and the Gladiators had the one-goal edge at the end of two.

Glads goalie Billy Sauer made some big saves down the stretch, as Gwinnett hung on and Galivan added a late empty-netter. Sauer stopped 22 of 23 shots while Ryan Nie stopped 23 of 25 for Kalamazoo.
