TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
For the second time in 48 hours, the Cyclones and Walleye will face-off on the ice...this time at the Huntington Center in Toledo. On Wednesday, the Cyclones knocked off their North Division rivals 2-1 in overtime when Sam D'Agostino banged home the game winner. It's the third of fifteen regular season meetings between the two clubs...and the second of three battles this week.
SCOUTING THE WALLEYE:
Toledo finds itself in the basement of the North Division after dropping Wednesday's game to the Cyclones...although Cincinnati has a slim one-point lead. Peter LeBlanc leads the Walleye with 8 points while Evan Rankin is on his heels with 7 points (3 goals, 4 assists). Scott Campbell has assumed the starting role between the pipes for Toledo since Jordan Pearce got called up to Grand Rapids on October 29. So far this season, Campbell has a 2-2-1-1 record with a 2.89 goals-against average and a 90.1% save percentage.
THE CLOSER:
First-year forward Sam D'Agostino now owns the Cyclones lead in goals (4) and game-winning goals (2). His goal total is also good for fourth among all ECHL rookies.
PREPARE TO HAVE NO FINGERNAILS:
Last season the Cyclones played in 27 games that were decided by a single goal. This year's group is on pace to play in 45 one-goal affairs. Through 11 games in 2010-11, they are 2-2-3 in such situations.
