Gameday: Adirondack at Orlando

March 18, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is the third of four this season between Adirondack and Orlando and the second of three this weekend at the Amway Center. Adirondack has been victorious in both meeting between the two teams this season, including a 6-2 win on Thursday at the Amway Center.

FANTASTIC FOUR: Forward Ryan Lomberg collected the first hat trick in Adirondack Thunder history last evening and then some as his four-goal effort powered the Thunder past the Solar Bears. Lomberg scored the game's first four goals for a natural hat trick, the first of his professional career. In two games against Orlando this season, Lomberg has six total goals, the most of any player.

FOUR LEAF CLOVER: Forward Peter MacArthur assisted on all four of Lomberg's goals, setting the Thunder franchise mark for assists as well. MacArthur, who now has multi-assist games in five of his last nine played, tied his ECHL career high for assists in a game, set on October 28, 2011 when he played with the Las Vegas Wranglers. MacArthur now has 27 points (6-21-27) in 36 games this season with Adirondack.

FLORIDA FIRSTS: The Thunder became the first team in Adirondack history to play a game in Florida with last night's victory over the Solar Bears. In the previous 33 years of professional hockey in Glens Falls, neither the AHL or UHL has had a Florida based team.

CARRIER ON MY WAYWARD SON: Forward Alex Carrier made his mark during his return to the Amway Center with the Thunder's fifth goal in last night's win, his fourth tally of the season. The 6-3 winger skated in 16 games with the Solar Bears last season, where he collected one assist to accompany 33 penalty minutes. With the Thunder this season, Carrier has set career highs in goals (4), assists (8) and points (11).

MURPHY'S LOUGH: Playing in just his second career professional game, defenseman Kevin Lough made his mark with his first professional point, an assist on Lomberg's game opening goal. Lough, who joined the Thunder prior to Sunday's game in Lake Placid, turned professional after four seasons at Colgate University in the ECAC, where he collected 31 points (7-24-31) in 149 games, which ranked 13th in program history.

POWER SURGE: The Thunder converted with a power-play goal for the first time in four games on Lomberg's second tally of the evening. Despite struggles on home ice, the Thunder rank second in the ECHL in road power-play percentage at 22.4%. In their last eight road games, Adirondack has converted 10 times on the man advantage, including a trio of multi-goal games.
