TONIGHT'S GAME

It's a battle for first place and a chance at the South Division title this weekend. Entering tonight's game versus Florida, the Stingrays hold a one point lead in the South Division standings over Florida for first place. The Everblades do have one game-in-hand, so a victory tonight for South Carolina would help South Carolina control its own destiny. The Stingrays are 5-3-1-0 versus Florida this season, earning a pair of wins in the Sunshine State last month, and beating Florida the last time they played at the North Charleston Coliseum on February 6 by a score of 8-1.

GAUL HITS 200

Forward Patrick Gaul is skating in his 200th ECHL game tonight. Gaul, an alternate captain with South Carolina has posted 84 points (32 goals, 52 assists) in 199 ECHL games. Gaul is in his fourth season with South Carolina and has goals in two straight contests.

CARBERY APPROACHES WIN 200

While Patrick Gaul hits 200 games this evening, win 200 as Head Coach of the South Carolina Stingrays is just around the corner for Spencer Carbery. In his fifth season, the Stingrays have won 199 games in Carbery's tenure. He sits at an overall record of 199-115-35 with the Stingrays.

CZECH MATE

Stingrays goaltender Vitek Vanecek claimed a pair of wins this past weekend to improve his record on the season to 14-7-0-3 and for his performance, was named the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week. The Czech Republic native recorded his second professional shutout on Thursday, stopping 28 shots in a 4-0 win at Greenville. The netminder has won seven straight games for South Carolina and is unbeaten in regulation since January 23. Vanecek sits in fourth place in the ECHL with a 2.08 goals-against average, the top mark among ECHL rookies. He was a second round draft pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2014 NHL Draft.

ON FIRE

Since the start of February, South Carolina is 14-2-2-0 and has climbed towards the top of the Eastern Conference standings. The South Division leading Stingrays are just six points behind the top team in the conference, the Toledo Walleye.
