Alaska Aces News Release

ALLEN, TEXAS - Ben Lake's shootout goal, after six previous shooters missed, gave the Alaska Aces a 2-1 victory over the Allen Americans Friday night at the Allen Civic Center.

The Americans took a 1-0 lead at the 6:27 mark of the first period on Vincent Arsenault's 10th goal of the season. Arsenault threw a check in the left wing corner, spun off the check and promptly received a pass from Chad Costello out of that corner. Arsenault fired a shot that slid under Aces goaltender Jacob DeSerres and into the net.

Alaska tied it up at 8:39 of the first. Ryan Tesink labored the puck up the right wing boards into the Allen zone and dropped a pass to Tommaso Traversa. Traversa snapped a shot from the top of the right circle through Allen netminder James Murray for his 15th goal of the season.

No scoring in the second period...Alaska outshooting the Americans 28-11 through two periods

No scoring in an evenly-played third period as well...Aces outshooting Allen 38-27.

No scoring in the overtime period...Allen dominated the offensive zone but came up empty largely due to DeSerres.

No scoring in the shootout...until the last shot. Gary Steffes, Tristan King and Chad Costello were stopped cold by DeSerres, while Peter Sivak, Marc-Andre Levesque and Stephen Perfetto came up empty against Murray.

It was Ben Lake who deked Murray down and lifted the puck into the net to end the game and give the Aces the extra point.

Alaska heads home for a three-game series at home against Rapid City next Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena ice on Thursday, March 24 against Rapid City.
