MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP
This weekend the Jackals are hosting the Manchester Monarchs for the final two regular-season meetings. Tonight and tomorrow's contests will mark the 10th and 11th overall meetings this season and the fifth and sixth in Elmira. The previous four season meetings have all occurred at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, N.H. The Jackals recently traveled to Manchester on Sunday and put their six-game winning streak on the line but were thwarted by Michael Houser's 35 stops in a 3-1 defeat. Tyler Currier scored his team-leading 19th goal of the season. In the last meeting at First Arena, Garrett Klotz scored his first goal of the season and C.J. Motte made 39 saves but the Jackals fell 4-1. Elmira's last victory against the Monarchs came on Feb. 7 in Manchester when Allan McPherson recorded his first career hat trick in a four-point day leading the Jackals past Manchester 5-4. The line of McPherson, Cason Hohmann and Chris Langkow was responsible for all five Jackals' goals en route to the victory. Allan McPherson and Tyler Currier lead the Jackals with five goals and six points against the Monarchs.
