Adirondack Thunder News Release

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight's matchup is another meeting between the top two teams in the East Division, with Adirondack currently holding a 5-3-3 record against the Monarchs this season and a narrow 13-12 point lead in head to head matchups. Manchester, however, holds a seven-point lead in the East Division with Adirondack holding two games in hand. The Thunder and Monarchs will face off three more times this season, with the next showdown coming on March 26 in Glens Falls.

OVERTIME OF YOUR LIFE: The Thunder needed overtime on both Friday and Saturday evening and came away with two key road victories, thanks to game-winning goals from Mathieu Brodeur and Michael Kirkpatrick. The win on Friday ended a stretch for the Thunder without an overtime win that dated back to early November and the team moved to 4-3 in overtime contests overall with the pair of wins.

READY. SET. BROD: Defenseman Mathieu Brodeur collected four points (1-3-4) over the Thunder's three-in-three this weekend, including the overtime game winning goal in Friday's win over Norfolk. The 6-6 defenseman added a pair of assists in Saturday's win in South Carolina and now has 10 points (2-8-10) and a +6 rating over his last nine games. The Laval, PQ native's game winner was his second of the season, with the first coming on Opening Night in Elmira in October.

HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLFE: Thunder forward Greg Wolfe collected an assist on both Brodeur's and Kirkpatrick's game-winning goals over the weekend, giving him three helpers on the weekend. Bolstered by a three-assist outing on 2/28 against Reading, Wolfe has collected six assists in five games since he returned from injury on 2/27. The Michigan State graduate ranks second on the Thunder's active roster with 28 points.

BERGINSANITY: Thunder defenseman saved his second goal of the season for a critical moment, as he fired a slap shot home to send the Thunder to overtime on Saturday. Bergin's tally marked just the sixth point of the season for the defensive defenseman, who leads all active Thunder skaters with a +13 rating.

GAME, SET, PATCH: Blueliner Patch Alber picked up another point on Saturday, an assist on Jeff Silengo's first period power-play goal. Alber has now collected eight assists over past seven games played and is tied for sixth in the ECHL in assists among defensemen with 24. The Clifton Park native is also tied with Michael Kirkpatrick for the Thunder team lead.

WE GOT THAT POWER: The Adirondack Thunder power play has been on-point as of late as they connected four times in their three-in-three set last weekend, including a two-goal effort on Thursday. The Thunder have scored power-play goals in seven of their last eight games, including a pair of two-goal efforts which gives them 10 on the season. Adirondack has been especially efficient away from home, as they rank third in the league at 21.2%.
