
Greenville's Valiquette Named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alain Valiquette of the Greenville Swamp?Rabbits is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 29-March 6.
The 25-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .978 save percentage in two appearances against Atlanta last week.
Valiquette, who was acquired in a trade with Elmira on Thursday, made 46 saves in a 6-1 win on Saturday and turned aside 42 shots in a 4-1 victory on Sunday.
A native of Sudbury, Ontario, Valiquette appeared in two games with Elmira prior to being traded, earning the win in his first pro start on Feb. 27 at Wheeling.
Valiquette played four seasons in the CIS, the last three for Laurentian University, with a combined record of 25-36-0, a 3.28 goals-against-average and a .906 save percentage. He also played four full seasons for the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League where he posted a record of 50-67-6, four shutouts, a 3.28 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage. He helped lead the Wolves to the OHL Eastern Conference Semifinals in 2010-11, when he posted a career high 27 wins.
