Adirondack Thunder News Release

GLAD TO BEAT YOU: The Adirondack Thunder remained hot last evening as they took down the Atlanta Gladiators by a 4-1 final to move to 9-1 on the season. The Thunder rode a three-point night from Kyle Flanagan (2-1-3) and goals from Mitchell Heard and Greg Wolfe past the Gladiators. Ken Appleby picked up the win between the pipes with 22 saves.

SEVENTH HEAVEN: Defenseman Ryan Constant tied a career best seven game point streak with an assist on Flanagan's first goal last night. Constant has collected at least one point in each of Adirondack's last seven games, dating back to Sunday, October 25 against the Manchester Monarchs. The blueliner's last seven game point streak came in November 2012, when he was a member of the Stockton Thunder.

YOU THE MAN, FLAN: Kyle Flanagan finally ended his goalless start to the season with two tallies last evening against Atlanta. The winger, who scored the team's third and fourth goals of the game, had gone nine games to open the season without a goal. Flanagan also added his team best eighth assist and became the first Thunder player, besides the recently called up Rob Bordson, to crack the double digit point barrier on the season.

THE INCREDIBLE CULK: Defenseman Ryan Culkin made his 2015-16 debut last night and collected an assist on Mitchell Heard's game opening goal. The 6-2 defenseman, who spent last season with the Adirondack Flames in the AHL, suffered a shoulder injury in training camp with the Calgary Flames and had yet to appear in a regular season contest at the NHL, AHL or ECHL level.

DOWN BUT NEVER OUT: The Adirondack Thunder remained perfect when giving up the game's first goal, with a 4-0 record in those situations. The Gladiators scored the game's first tally just under three minutes into the game but Adirondack responded with four unanswered to take control of the game.

ON THE PLUS SIDE: David Shields became the ECHL's first player to each double digits in the plus/minus category, as he moved to a +10 rating on the season after a +3 effort last night in Atlanta. Shields has yet to have a game with a negative rating this season. Shields' teammate and sometimes defensive partner Ryan Constant is tied for 13th in the league with a +7 rating.
