MANCHESTER, N.H. - A two-goal night from Maxim Kitsyn was not enough to overcome three Toledo power-play scores, as the Manchester Monarchs fell to the Toledo Walleye, 6-2, Saturday night in the "Mullets in Movember" game at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The Monarchs (5-5-0-0) snapped their brief two-game winning streak as Toledo (5-5-0-1) captured the middle game of this three-game weekend series.

"Tonight the effort we put fourth is not one we are willing to accept," Head Coach Rich Seeley said. "If you can't come in here and give 110%, then we are not going to be successful."

The Walleye opened the scoring with a power-play goal from Alden Hirschfield at 5:54 of the first period. After a Gasper Kopitar tripping penalty, Marek Tvrdon released a slap-shot from the top of the left face-off circle through traffic in front of Monarchs goaltender, Patrik Bartosak, and the rebound was cleaned up by Hirschfield for his 5th goal of the season.

The Monarchs answered back at 9:03 of the first period to tie the game at 1-1, when Matt White sent a slap-shot toward Walleye net-minder, Jake Paterson, who was unable to cleanly handle the save. The puck landed in the crease where Kitsyn was waiting to put home his 2nd goal of the season.

Toledo would respond to the Kitsyn score with a goal from AJ Jenks, 2:12 after the Manchester tally. Jenks beat a down-and-out Bartosak with an elevated backhand shot over the sprawling Bartosak's glove hand.

Manchester bounced back with Kitsyn's second goal of the game at 18:48 of the opening period. A blue line shot from Josh Brown found Kitsyn's stick in front of Paterson, and he was able to beat the Walleye goalie to tie the game, 2-2, heading into the first intermission.

Toledo opened the scoring in the second period with Shane Berschbach's 4th goal of the season at the 2:50 mark. Berschbach received a pass in the slot from Jenks and buried the shot stick-side on Bartosak to put the Walleye up 3-2.

The Walleye increased their lead with a goal from Kyle Bonis at 4:55. Berschbach skated along the left boards and sent a saucer pass to the right circle, where Bonis sent a one-timer high glove-side over Bartosak.

At 7:12 of the period, Toledo extended their lead even further on Austin Wuthrich's 1st goal of the season while on the power play. Wuthrich received a pass in his skates from Tyler Sikura corralled the puck and fire a desperation shot from the slot, beating Bartosak five-hole, giving Toledo a 5-2 lead heading into the second intermission.

The Walleye made the score 6-2 with their third power-play goal, courtesy of Jenks' second goal of the night. Joel Chouinard sent a pass to Jenks at the blue line, and Jenks released the one-time shot past the glove of Bartosak at 13:22 for the final goal of the game.

The Monarchs return to the ice Sunday, Nov. 15 (3 p.m.), as they close out the three-game set with the Walleye at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
