Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans kicked off a weekend double header against the Colorado Eagles at the Allen Event Center suffering a 8-1 loss.
The only tally in the first period came late off the stick of Joe Zarbo, his third of the year, to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Tonight marked the return of former Americans forward Darryl Bootland to the Allen Event Center, so naturally, tempers flared. However, it was Colorado Eagles Sean Zimmerman who was the one to drop the gloves against Ayrton Nikkel.
The second period contained an onslaught of offensive attack from Colorado. The Eagles piled on three more goals to extend their lead to 4-0 by the end of the second period. Shots were lopsided as well by a count of 30-14 in favor of the Eagles. The Americans were unable to generate much on offense and suffered from multiple penalties.
Colorado did not let off the gas, scoring three more goals on Joel Rumpel. Offense continued to struggle as the Americans were unsuccessful on a four minute power play. Jesse Mychan padded his stats on the night, registering a hat trick, and the final goal on Rumpel before he was pulled and replaced by Riley Gill. The Americans were able to get on the board after Ian Schultz scored his first of the year in his home debut. Colorado tacked on the final goal of the game giving the Eagles an 8-1 victory.
