MATCHING UP WITH THE MALLARDS
The Oilers and Mallards face off tonight in the sixth of eight scheduled meetings this season. Tulsa is 2-2-1 against Quad City including a 1-0-1 mark at iWireless Center. Four of the five previous contests have been decided by a single goal and the Mallards hold a slight 14-11 edge in total goals scored. Most recently, the two clubs split a home-and-home series with the Oilers winning 2-1 in Moline on February 13 and the Mallards claiming a 3-2 victory in Tulsa on Valentine's Day. The Oilers rank second in scoring in the Central Division with 3.5 goals per game while the Mallards are the top defensive team in the division and allow only 2.6 goals per contest.
CAN'T SOLVE THE MYSTERY OF THE MAVERICKS
The Oilers suffered a second straight loss with a 6-3 setback in Missouri on Tuesday night and have dropped seven of the eight meetings this season against the Mavericks. Andrew Courtney recorded four points (3 goals, 1 assist) and Sebastien Thinel and Lindsay Sparks each chipped in three points to help the Mavs cruise past the Oilers. Adam Pleskach netted a pair of goals to lead Tulsa's attack and the Oilers fired 39 shots on net, their highest shot total in the last eight games.
SIX AND COUNTING
With an assist on Adam Pleskach's first period goal on Tuesday, Drew Fisher extended his current point streak to six games. Fisher, who ranks second in the ECHL scoring race with 64 points, has 13 points (1 goal, 12 assists) during his six-game run and has registered multiple points in five of those six outings. The 28-year old is one of three Oilers (Pleskach, Jon Booras) to average at least a point per game.
BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD
The Oilers gave up a total of only 12 goals during their recent five-game win streak but have since surrendered 12 goals in the last two contests. Tulsa's opponents are averaging 3.6 goals per game and only two teams in the league, the Brampton Beast and the Stockton Thunder, have allowed more total goals than the Oilers. In the last three third periods, Tulsa has been outscored 7-1.
COUNT ON IT
The Oilers converted on the first power play opportunity of the game on Tuesday and have scored at least one power play goal in nine of their last 11 games.
FAREWELL TO FEBRUARY
The Oilers ended February with a 6-5-0 record and have posted winning records in four of the five months of the season. Tulsa lost the first three games of the month but rebounded to win six of the next eight and climb back into the thick of the playoff chase.
FIRST-YEAR PHENOM
Center Jeff Jubinville is playing his way into the discussion for ECHL Rookie of the Year. With 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists), Jubinville ranks third in the league's rookie scoring race behind only Tyler Barnes of Toledo (52 points) and Greg Wolfe of Alaska (48 points). The Edmonton, Alberta native is on a five-game point streak and ranks second on the Oilers' roster with a +18 rating.
OIL DROPS
Defenseman Eric Tallent appeared in his 200 th career game on Tuesday night...Matt Larke has 16 of his 23 points in the second half of the season...The Oilers have allowed a power play goal in nine of their last 11 games...All-time, the Oilers have managed only three wins in ten trips to Quad City...Adam Pleskach has eight multi-goal games this season, twice as many as the next closest teammate.
