
South Carolina's DeBlois Named CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - South Carolina Stingrays' forward Derek DeBlois is the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for February.
The 24-year-old scored 10 goals, added 11 assists and was a +19 in February as the Stingrays went 13-0-0 in February.
A native of Narragansett, R.I., DeBlois had at least one point in 11 of the 13 games, including seven multi-point games. He tied the ECHL season-high with four goals in a 6-3 win against Gwinnett on Feb. 8 and he recorded three assists in a 5-0 victory at Gwinnett on Feb. 14. DeBlois was the ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for February, and posted an even or better rating in all 13 games.
DeBlois is tied for ninth among ECHL rookies with 37 points (15g-22a) in 51 games.
Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons at the University of Michigan, tallying 61 points (24g-37a) in 141 career games. He also spent one season with Cedar Rapids of the United States Hockey League where he picked up 33 points (11g-22a) in 55 games.
Runners Up: Braden Pimm, Evansville (10 gp, 7g, 8a, 15 pts.) and Colton Beck, Idaho (10 gp, 7g, 3a, 10 pts.).
