IceMen Game on as Scheduled Tonight
March 4, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Evansville IceMen News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The Evansville IceMen, presented by Coors Light, will play Wednesday's home game against the Kalamazoo Wings as scheduled at 7:15 p.m. inside the Ford Center, where it's always a comfortable 65 degrees. With a balmy arena and a winter wonderland outside, tonight's game is perfect hockey weather.
"When this weather hits back home in Canada, everybody runs for the outdoors and throws their skates on," said IceMen Assistant Coach Josh Beaulieu.
Kalamazoo beat the weather into town and with both teams in Evansville, the game will be played as scheduled. The IceMen knocked off the Wings 7-3 in their last meeting 11 days ago.
"It would be nice to see the crowd come out tonight and make their way down to the Ford Center, " Beaulieu said. "They just need to get out a little earlier and take their time getting home."
Fans that get to the game early can enjoy the coldest treat in town, the $1 Coors Light drafts at Backstage Bar & Grill for Wet Your Whistle Wednesday. Backstage will also be hosting some air hockey games for fans to enjoy before they head across the street. Fans will be able to warm up with hot chocolate and cappuccino inside the Ford Center.
"I think the weather will hold up and allow our fans to come out and enjoy the game tonight," said Beaulieu who is an amateur meteorologist. "It's IceMen weather and it's IceMen hockey tonight so it would be great to have the support. Hopefully we can see everybody at the game tonight."
It will also be Donation Night on Wednesday. Fans can purchase tickets to the game against Kalamazoo in the name of one of four participating charities: The Children's Advocacy Center, EYHA, Vanderburgh County Humane Society, and Youth Resources.
A portion of each ticket bought in the name of charity will be given back to that non-profit organization. The charity with the highest number of tickets purchased in their name will also receive a $500 donation from the IceMen. So help support your favorite charity by getting tickets for Donation Night at 812-421-Goal.
