March 4, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - Troy Redmann earned his second career shutout with 28 saves and Ryan Walters scored twice, lifting the Alaska Aces to a 3-0 victory over the Ontario Reign before 6,502 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena on Tuesday night.

Redmann, who beat his former team just several miles away from his hometown of Brea, Calif., improved to 4-0-2 in his last six road appearances and captured the shutout on the same day he was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week.

The Aces, finishing their five game road trip at 3-1-1, moved to within two points of the Utah Grizzlies for fourth place in the Pacific Division and eight points of Ontario, currently in third. The Aces face Ontario six more times in the final 16 games.

Michael Markovic's first career goal at 4:28 spotted the Aces with a 1-0 advantage in the first period, converting a post-to-post feed by Jacob Doty, who outmuscled a Reign defenseman behind the net.

Redmann, stopping all 12 shots he saw in the first period, came through with 10 more in the second period and was aided with Walters' back-to-back strikes for a 3-0 cushion.

Walters finished Doty's feed at the Ontario net, 9:22 into the second period after Felix Poulin intercepted a clearing attempt, and Walters' spectacular goal, a spin-o-rama from the left circle on defenseman Kyle Bigos, put the Aces up by three with 5:59 remaining on a shorthanded goal.

Redmann kept Ontario at bay on a remarkable glove save, stopping Judd Blackwater late in the period on an attempt from the right circle.

Adam Brown, pierced for three goals on 11 shots, was replaced in the third period by Jussi Olkinuora and Ontario rarely threatened, limited to six shots on goal.

NOTES: The Aces scratched Brendan Connolly, Corey Syvret, Brad Gorham, Erik Higby, and Quinn Sproule ... Gogol has 16 points in the last 15 games ... the Aces improved to 2-3-2 in the season series ... Walters led the Aces with seven shots on goal ... Justin Johnson dropped the gloves with Mike DiPaolo in the first period, with Johnson ending the scrap by connecting on a series of lefts ...
