
South Carolina's Jakaitis, Morrison Share Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Jakaitis and Adam Morrison of the South Carolina Stingrays have been named co-winners of the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for February.
South Carolina tied a club record with 13 straight wins during the month, which is also tied for the fifth-longest winning streak in ECHL history.
Jakaitis went 7-0-0 during February with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. He allowed two goals or less in five of his seven appearances and made at least 22 saves in six of the seven games. It is the fifth time in his career that he was won the monthly award, extending his own league record.
The 31-year-old has appeared in 25 games this season with a record of 16-7-2 with two shutouts. He is third in the league with a 2.27 goals-against average and is tied for 12th with a .913 save percentage.
A native of Rochester, Minn., Jakaitis has appeared in 191 career ECHL games with South Carolina, Gwinnett, Charlotte and Columbia posting an overall record of 100-60-24 with 18 shutouts, a 2.45 goals-against average and a save percentage of .920. Last season, he was named ECHL Goaltender of the Year for the second time in three seasons, joining Scott Stirling (2000-01 and 2003-04) as the only two-time winners in the award's history.
Morrison appeared in six games in February going 6-0-0 with two shutouts, a 1.17 goals-against average and a save percentage of .953. He allowed two goals or less in five appearances and posted his shutouts in back-to-back games, on Feb. 13 against Gwinnett and on Feb. 14 at Gwinnett.
Under an NHL contract with the Boston Bruins, Morrison has seen action in 22 games with the Stingrays this season with a record of 14-5-2. He leads the league with a 1.89 goals-against average, is tied for the league lead with four shutouts and is second with a .927 save percentage.
Morrison has appeared in 48 career ECHL games with South Carolina and Utah posting an overall record of 23-17-5 with four shutouts, a 2.86 goals-against average and a save percentage of .906.
