Game Preview - Oklahoma City at Texas

Texas and Oklahoma City meet for the seventh time this season. Texas has taken the last five games of the series, including the last meeting on Jan. 28 at the Cox Convention Center, a 2-1 win for the Stars. The Barons have dropped the last five games (0-3-0-2) of the series. The teams will play a total of ten times this year, including two more games at Cedar Park Center.

The Stars are 13-7-3-2 at Cedar Park Center this season and 5-3-1-1 in the last ten games played. Texas is 21-12-1-2 against the West Division this season. The Stars are the least penalized team in the league accruing just under 12.00 penalty minutes a game. The Stars are 13-1-3-2 in one-goal games this year. The Stars are coming off a 4-1 loss at Houston on Friday.

Oklahoma City is 15-7-0-1 on the road this year and 6-3-0-1 in the last ten games played. The Barons have been outscored 90-88 on home ice, but have outscored their opponents 80-60 in the road this season. Oklahoma City has scored the first goal 29 times in 52 games played, posting a 19-7-1-2 mark when opening the scoring. The Barons are 18-14-2-4 against West Division opponents. Oklahoma City has outscored its opponents 57-40 in the second period of play this season. When leading after two periods of play, the Barons are 18-0-0-2. The Barons are coming off a 2-1 shootout win at home on Friday night.

Oklahoma City center Brad Moran leads all skaters with five points in the season series, including three goals and two assists. The Stars are without six of their top seven scorers in the season series against Oklahoma City. Right wing Greg Rallo has two goals and two assists for four points in six games against the Barons. Stars goalie Richard Bachman is 5-0-0 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. Bachman has stopped 152 of 160 Barons shots in five appearances. Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers is 0-3-1 with a 2.98 goals against average and a .912 save percentage in four games against Texas. Barons goalie Martin Gerber is 1-0-1 with a 1.92 goals against average and a .943 save percentage.

Dallas Summons Sceviour and Wathier, Texas Signs Mouillierat

The Dallas Stars announced on Friday that the club has recalled right wing Colton Sceviour and left wing Francis Wathier from the Texas Stars, Dallas' development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate move,

Sceviour, 21, is looking to make his NHL debut. He has appeared in 47 games for Texas this season, scoring nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points with four penalty minutes and a +6 rating. A native of Red Deer, Alberta, Sceviour was originally selected by Dallas in the fourth round (112 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Wathier, 26, has appeared in one game for Dallas this season (Jan. 21 at Calgary). He has played in 44 AHL games for Texas this season, recording 24 points (13 goals, 11 assists). Wathier represented Texas at the AHL All-Star Game this past Monday in Hershey, PA. The St. Isidore, ON native led the Western Conference with two goals and a +2 rating in the contest. The 6-3, 230-pound winger was Dallas' sixth round selection (185th overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

The 23-year old Mouillierat has played in 44 games for the Idaho Steelheads this season, placing second on the team with 17 goals and 44 points. Prior to joining the Steelheads, Mouillierat attended training camp with the Texas Stars, the Steelheads AHL Affiliate.

Dallas Calls up Sawada

The Dallas Stars announced on Wednesday that the club has recalled right wing Raymond Sawada from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). The club also placed Tom Wandell (C) on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 2.

Sawada, 25, has played in 36 games for Texas this season, collecting 17 points (7g, 10a). He has appeared in 10 NHL games over his career, all with Dallas, tallying one goal. Last season, the 6-2, 207-pound right wing helped the Texas Stars reach the Calder Cup Finals in the club's inaugural season, accruing eight points (3g, 5a) in 24 playoff games and 19 points (8g, 11a) in 60 regular season games. The Richmond, British Columbia, native was selected in the second round (52nd overall) at the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. Dallas Recalls Morin and Gagnon, Texas sends LeMay to Allen

The Dallas Stars announced on Monday that the club has recalled centers Aaron Gagnon and Travis Morin from the Texas Stars, Dallas' primary affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In a separate move, the Texas Stars assigned goalie Adrien LeMay to the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League (CHL), Texas' CHL affiliate.

Gagnon, 24, has appeared in nine games for Dallas this season, recording two assists, including his first NHL point (Dec. 6 at Columbus). The 5-11, 186-pound center has spent the majority of this season with Texas, skating in 35 games and collecting 18 points (11g, 7a). Gagnon led the Texas Stars in scoring during the 2009-10 season with 58 points (27g, 31a). The Quesnel, British Columbia, native was signed by Dallas as a free agent on Feb. 2, 2007.

Morin, 27, made his NHL debut against Edmonton in a 3-1 win Jan. 26, recording 10:07 minutes of time on ice. He has recorded 34 points (13g, 21a) in 47 games this season for Texas. The 6-2, 195-pound center played 80 games last season for Texas, finishing second on the team in scoring with 52 points (21g, 31a). Morin was signed as a free agent on July 12, 2010 and was originally selected in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (ninth round, 263rd overall) by the Washington Capitals.

LeMay returns to Allen after his third AHL recall this season. The rookie netminder dressed, but has not made an appearance for Texas this season. In 17 games for the Americans this year, LeMay is 11-2-0 with a 3.10 goals against average and a .897 save percentage.

Texas 1 at Houston 4 2/4/11

The Texas Stars were defeated by the Houston Aeros 4-1 in front of 6,277 fans at the Toyota Center on Friday night. Forward Patrick O'Sullivan scored two power-play goals to lead the Aeros to their seventh win over Texas this season. Houston goalie Anton Khudobin (16-9-1) made 31 saves in the victory. Stars goalie Brent Krahn (5-5-0) stopped 32 of 35 in the loss, his first start since November 10th. Texas left wing Luke Gazdic scored the team's lone goal.

Abbotsford 5 at Texas 4 SO 1/29/11

The Texas Stars were defeated by the Abbotsford Heat 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 6,863 fans at Cedar Park Center. The Stars rallied with two goals in the last five minutes of regulation, forcing overtime and gaining a point in the shootout loss. Heat goalie Leland (19-15-2) stopped all Texas attempts to preserve the shootout win, to go along with 35 saves in regulation. Abbotsford scored on two of three attempts to win the shootout. Texas left wing Francis Wathier scored the game-tying goal to force overtime with one minute left in the third period. Defensemen Dan Spang and Philip Larsen, as well as center Aaron Gagnon also supplied goals. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (17-10-3) stopped 25 of 29 shots in the shootout loss as Texas extended its points streak to four games (3-0-0-1).

Texas 2 at Oklahoma City 1 1/28/11

Oklahoma City, OK - The Texas Stars defeated the Oklahoma City Barons 2-1 on Friday night in front of 5,321 fans at the Cox Convention Center. Forward Colton Sceviour scored the game-winner and set up the first goal of the night to lead the Stars to victory. Texas goalie Richard Bachman stuffed the Barons attack with a 28 saves on the night, including 15 saves in the third period to preserve the win.

The Texas Stars

After 47 games of action, center Travis Morin leads Texas in scoring with 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points. The All-Star center leads Texas with 21 assists. With Morin in the NHL, right wing Greg Rallo is first on the team in scoring with 29 points (15g-14a) in 48 games played. Ralllo leads the team in goals and with 147 shots on net. Dan Spang is second overall on the team with 22 points. Spang is also tied for second on the team in assists (17) and leads all defensemen in shots on goal (102). Defensemen Brad Lukowich is tied for second on the team with 17 assists. Left wing Luke Gazdic's 72 penalty minutes lead the team.

Texas Stars goalies Richard Bachman and Brent Krahn fill the net for the Stars. Bachman has appeared in 32 games, going 17-10-3 with a 2.21 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. Bachman ranks seventh overall in the AHL for goals against average and eighth in save percentage. Bachman has started 17 of the last 20 games. Krahn has appeared in ten games, posting a 5-5-0 mark, a 2.94 goals against average and a .901 save percentage. Krahn was out with an injury from Nov. 10, 2010 to Feb. 4, 2011.

Streak Comes to an End

Texas forward Colton Sceviour and center Travis Morin are currently on recall to the Dallas Stars, ending their streaks of 127 consecutive regular season games played for Texas. Counting the Stars 2010 Calder Cup Playoff run, Sceviour and Morin were the last remaining original Stars to have played in every game in team history, suiting up in 151 straight games heading into this weekend's action.

The Oklahoma City Barons

The Oklahoma City Barons are the AHL Affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. Head Coach Todd Nelson is the first coach in team history, guiding the club in its inaugural season. Nelson spent the last two years as an assistant coach with the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers prior to his first head coaching job in the AHL.

Left wing Alexandre Giroux leads the Barons in scoring with 34 assists and 26 goals for 60 points in 52 games played. He is second in the AHL in points, second in goals scored and tied for third in assists. Giroux spent the last four years with the Hershey, winning two Calder Cups and making three Finals appearances. Giroux led the AHL in goals scored the last two seasons.

Former Hershey teammate Bryan Helmer joined the Barons on January 7th. In his first 15 games with the Barons, Helmer has nine assists and 13 points. Helmer is the AHL's all-time points leader among blueliners and he is closing in on becoming the seventh player in league history to play in 1,000 games. Helmer played with Giroux in Hershey the last two seasons, winning Calder Cups with the Bears in 2009 and 2010. Helmer was also a Calder Cup champion with Albany in 1995.

Colin MacDonald is second on the team with a career-high 24 goals in 52 games played. Center Brad Moran is second on the team in scoring with 47 points on 15 goals and 32 assists. Rookie Jeff Petry remains with Edmonton, at the time of his recall he was among the top scoring defenseman in the AHL with seven goals and 21 points in 32 games played. Shawn Belle is currently first in scoring for all Barons defensemen with 17 assists and 20 points in 39 games played.

In net, the Barons feature goalies Martin Gerber and Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers. Gerber is 17-10-3, with a 2.52 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Gerber also played for the NHL's Ottawa Senators, Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes, and Toronto Maple Leafs. Fellow tender, Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers is a second-round pick (#31 overall) of Edmonton in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Drouin-Deslauriers played in 48 games for Edmonton last season, going 16-28-4 with a 3.26 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. Drouin-Deslauriers is 8-9-2 this year, sporting a 2.99 goals against average and an .901 save percentage.

Special Teams

After finishing second overall last season on the penalty kill, the Stars rank 29th overall at 76.3%. Texas sits 18th in the AHL, converting 17.0% of its power plays. The Barons are 11th overall on the power play, converting 19% of the time. Oklahoma City is sixth in the AHL on the penalty kill, stopping 85.3% of its opponents' power plays. Texas is 5-for-30 on the power play against Oklahoma City, while the Barons are 5-for-24 against the Stars.

Offense and Defense

The Texas Stars are eighth overall in team defense, allowing 2.67 goals against per game. Texas is ranked 16th out of 30 teams, scoring an average of 2.77 goals per game. Oklahoma City's defense ranks 18th overall with a 2.88 goals against per game. The Barons sit sixth offensively, averaging 3.23 goals per game.
