Bulldogs Shut out 4-0 by Phantoms

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Adirondack Phantoms 4-0 on Saturday at Copps Coliseum. Denis Hamel scored a hat trick for Adirondack while former Bulldog Dan Jancevski notched two assists and Michael Leighton made 20 saves for the shutout.

The Phantoms got on the scoreboard first at 3:11 of the opening stanza. Jancevski received the puck from Erik Gustafsson before blasting a shot towards the net. The puck bounced off the stick of a Bulldogs player and to the left side of the net. Mike Testwuide whacked the loose puck past Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford. Adirondack took a 2-0 lead at 8:06. Dan Jancevski fed the puck to Denis Hamel, who carried it into the Hamilton zone along the right side. Hamel slapped a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that beat Sanford on the glove side.

Hamel scored his second goal of the game at 14:07 of the middle frame. Hamel intercepted a passing attempt from the 'Dogs while positioned in the slot. Hamel released a wrist shot that sailed over the glove of Sanford and into the top of the net. Hamel completed the hat trick at 16:14 of the third period with an empty net goal.

The Bulldogs host the Abbotsford Heat for a 7:00 p.m. game on Tuesday, February 8th at Copps Coliseum. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
