Abbotsford Heat News Release

ROCKFORD ILL - The Abbotsford Heat let a 2-0 first period lead slip away from them as the Rockford Ice Hogs scored a comeback 3-2 win over the Heat in AHL action on Saturday night.

Abbotsford would jump out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Quintin Laing and Greg Nemisz early in the first period. However, a second period goal by Kyle Hagel and third period goals by Ryan Potulny and Kyle Beach would lead the Hogs to victory. Ales Kotalik would add two assists for the Heat in the loss, his first two since arriving in the Fraser Valley.

The loss marked the first time all season that the Heat relinquished a lead after forty minutes to lose in regulation. Previously, the Heat was 15-0-1-2 when holding a lead after forty minutes.

The loss drops Abbotsford back into fifth place in the North Division, three points back of third place Lake Erie and two points back of the Toronto Marlies. The Heat will face the Lake Erie Monsters on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland Ohio. Game time is at 1 PM PST and can be heard on Country 107.1 FM, with Dave Sheldon calling all of the Heat action.
