BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Feb. 5, 2011) ‚¬" Chris D'Alvise scored twice, Tomas Kubalik notched a goal and two assists and the Springfield Falcons defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-1 at Webster Bank Arena on Saturday night. With the win, Springfield moves to 23-23-1-3. The Sound Tigers drop to 19-25-3-3.

Forward Justin DiBenedetto put the Sound Tigers on top just 2:46 into the first period. DiBenedetto did a great job to hold the blue line as the Sound Tigers skated in, then crossed to the left faceoff circle to accept a pass from Rob Hisey. DiBenedetto's one-timer beat Gustaf Wesslau for his 11th goal of the season and his seventh goal in seven games as the Sound Tigers grabbed the early 1-0 lead. Pat Bingham's squad dominated the play in the first half and outshot Springfield 11-0 midway through the first period, but the Falcons would draw even with 46 seconds left in the opening frame. Chris D'Alvise's shot from the left circle flew over Joel Martin and into the net, and after one period the score was tied 1-1.

The Sound Tigers controlled the majority of the play during the second period, but the Falcons would score the only goal of the middle frame. At 17:30 of the period, Tomas Kubalik's wraparound attempt slid past Martin and into the crease, where D'Alvise was waiting for the puck. The Falcons forward knocked the puck into the open net for his second goal of the game and Springfield led 2-1 heading to the third period.

The Falcons increased their lead to two 1:57 into the final period of play. Following a David Ullstrom slashing penalty, Kyle Wilson scored from the left circle on the power play to give Springfield a 3-1 lead. At 10:44, it appeared the Sound Tigers cut the deficit in half. Jesse Joensuu skated behind the Springfield net, curled in front and snapped a shot through traffic and into the top left corner of the cage. However, it was ruled that DiBenedetto interfered with Wesslau and the goal was nullified. Kubalik assisted on both of D'Alvise's goals and netted his own on the power play with 2:49 to round out the scoring.

The Sound Tigers return to action next Friday night when they host the AHL-leading Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7 p.m.
