Indy Fuel News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - In the first of five head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were shut out by the Toledo Walleye on Friday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum by a final score of 4-0. With the loss, the Fuel fell to 5-15-2-3 overall this season and with 15 points, remain alone in seventh place in the ECHL's North Division standings.

The Fuel allowed just one first period goal on Friday, as Troy Schwab made it 1-0 Walleye at 3:33 of the opening stanza. In the middle frame, three unanswered goals for Toledo bulged the visitors' advantage to 4-0 thanks to markers from Martin Frk at 1:30, Kyle Bonis at 2:54 and a shorthanded Tyler Barnes tally at 4:45.

Jeff Lerg stopped all seven Fuel shots he faced in a scoreless third period as the Toledo goaltender sealed a 25-save shutout victory while Mac Carruth stopped 26 pucks in defeat for the Fuel. Toledo's top-ranked power-play was stifled by the Fuel's penalty kill on Friday as the Fuel went a perfect five-for-five with the man disadvantage.

Next up for the Fuel, it's a Saturday tilt with Indy's I-69 rivals, the Fort Wayne Komets, with the opening faceoff set for 7:30 pm at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Full radio coverage begins with the "Jose Cuervo Pregame Show" at 7:15 pm on CBS Sports 1430 WXNT-AM, online at cbssports1430.com and on smartphones everywhere via the free "TuneIn" Radio app with Fuel broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.

In 2014-15, the Indy Fuel, the proud "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and AHL's Rockford IceHogs, drop the puck on their first season in the ECHL.
