Kalamazoo Wings News Release

KALAMAZOO- Surrendering three goals in the second period, the Kalamazoo Wings fell into a hole they couldn't get out of, as the K-Wings lost 5-4 Friday night at Wings Stadium to the Fort Wayne Komets.

Coming out with the early momentum, the K-Wings found the back of the net just 5:48 into the contest with Gergo Nagy's third of the season. Assisting on the tally were Eric Kattelus and Nathan Longpre. With the goal, Nagy extended his point streak to four games.

Storming back in the second stanza, Christian Ouellet (4th) evened the game for the Komets by burying a power-play rebound 7:07 into the period.

Sparked by the power-play goal, the Komets struck two more times to jump ahead 3-1. Eric Faille (11th) extended his point streak to six games with a go-ahead marker 13:03 into the stanza. Wasting no time, Shawn Szydlowski (13th) struck 46 seconds later to push the Komets lead to two goals.

Szydlowski continued to be thorn to the side of the K-Wings in the third period. The forward netted his second goal of the game and his 14th of the season early in the period. Half of Szydlowski's goals this season have occurred against Kalamazoo.

Led by a big hit by Curtis Valk, the K-Wings climbed back to within two goals 6:38 into the period. After Valk created a turnover behind the Komets net with a check on Gabriel Beaupre, the forward sent a perfect centering pass to Ludwig Blomstrand for his sixth goal of the season.

Recording the eventual game-winning goal midway in the period, Mathew Pistilli (7th) squeezed a backhander under the armpit of Oscar Dansk.

Showing resiliency, the K-Wings attempted to fight back registering a pair of goals from Justin Taylor (3rd) and Valk (9th). Taylor's goal was a power-play strike that occurred with nine minutes remaining in regulation, while Valk's came with just 1.6 seconds left in the game.

The K-Wings will remain at home tomorrow, Saturday, December 20th, as they host the Toledo Walleye on Swimsuit Angel Snow Night. Any fan that wears their swimsuit to the game will receive a ticket for $11.

Tickets for all K-Wings home games are currently on sale at Wings Stadium Ticket Office, all Ticketmaster locations, including www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (800) 745-3000.
