Freedom Sign RHP Chuck Weaver After Tryout

FLORENCE, KY - On Monday, June 10, the Florence Freedom held their second collegiate tryout at University of Cincinnati Medical Center Stadium and are pleased to announce the signing of right-hander Chuck Weaver.
Weaver, a Fort Wayne, Indiana native, impressed at the tryout held earlier this week and was signed to his first professional contract after completing his senior season at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.
The 6'4 right-hander marked the first college player signed by the Freedom as a result of the newly instituted college tryouts.
"There are a lot of guys that finished up their college season after our spring training began," Freedom field manager Fran Riordan said. "So there's a lot of talent out there and we hope Chuck can be the first of many that can be productive players from our college tryouts."
Weaver went 2-5 with a 3.57 ERA this past season for the Mastodons. He tossed three complete games and struck out 69 batters in 70.2 innings worked.
The June 10 tryout was the second and final college tryout currently scheduled for 2013. Future college prospects that would be interested in attending a tryout in front of the Freedom's field staff should check back on FlorenceFreedom.com as information will be posted as events/tryouts are planned.
