
Four Loons Named to All-Star Team

South Bend, IN - Midwest League President George H. Spelius announced today that four members of the Great Lakes Loons have been named to the league's all-star squad. The rosters were selected by the league's managers. The announcement comes just prior to the Loons' game in South Bend.
Joining the Midwest League's Eastern roster are first baseman Eduardo Perez, infielder Francisco Lizarraga, left-handed starter Clayton Kershaw and right-handed reliever Miguel Ramirez.
Perez, hitting .309 with seven homers and 27 RBIs entering play June 5, has been selected as a starter at first base.
Lizarraga has played both shortstop and second base this season and will be a reserve infielder for the Eastern squad. He is hitting .290 with a pair of homers and 13 RBIs.
Kershaw and Ramirez join the team's pitching corps. Kershaw (6-2) is currently eighth in the league in ERA (2.13) and tied for second in strikeouts (74). Ramirez has allowed just two earned runs all season in 21 innings (0.86 ERA).
This year's all-star game will be held at Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva, IL, the home of the Kane County Cougars, June 19, 2007. The teams will be led by the coaching staffs of the teams that are in first place at the conclusion of the first half.
