Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI -- The Swing of the Quad Cities banged out 15 hits on their way to a 13-5 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in game one of a double header Tuesday night at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Brandon Buckman lead the hit parade with three hits, including a home run. Luke Gorsett and Willian Sandoval also homered in the game for the Swing.

Rattler starting pitcher Tony Butler retired the first two batters of the game with no problem. But, Buckman drilled a 2-0 pitch from Butler over the wall for his thirteenth home run of the season. Butler walked the next batter and Christian Reyes singled to put two runners on base. Jared Schweitzer followed with an RBI single. An RBI double by Jaime Landin made the score 3-0. Gorsett hit a three-run homer to cap the inning.

Wisconsin (17-39) got a run in the bottom of the first. Carlos Peguero's RBI double came with two outs to cut the Swing lead to 6-1.

But, Quad Cities (33-24) got a run in the top of the second inning on a throwing error and went back in front by six runs.

The Swing struck again with two outs in the top of the fourth. Back-to-back singles by Donovan Solano and Buckman put the first two runners of the inning on base. Chris Grossman singled in a run. Christian Reyes was next with an RBI double. Schweitzer finished the scoring with an RBI single.

Sandoval hit the third Swing homer of the night -- and the first of his professional career -- in the top of the fifth. The two-run homer off Rattler reliever Rob Harmon put Quad Cities up 12-1.

Wisconsin outfielder Kalian Sams got a home run of his own with a lead off blast to center off PJ Walters in the bottom of the fifth. The Rattlers added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Alex Liddi knocked in a run with a double. A wild pitch let in the second run of the inning.

But, an error on a base hit to center by Christian Lopez in the top of the seventh inning allowed Sandoval to score all the way from first and the Swing were up 13-4.

Danny Santin singled in a run for the Rattlers in the bottom of the seventh inning to account for the final run.
