
Three Wizards Named To All-Star Team

Fort Wayne, IN - Three Fort Wayne Wizards were named to the Eastern Division's Midwest League All-Star team, league officials announced. Representing the Wizards in 2007 will be infielder Rayner Contreras, starting pitcher Nathan Culp and relief pitcher R.J. Rodriguez.
All-Star teams are nominated and selected by the managers of the 14 teams representing the Midwest League. This year's game will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at Philip B. Elfstrom Stadium in Geneva, Illinois, home of the Kane County Cougars (Oakland A's affiliate).
Contreras, selected as a reserve infielder, currently leads the Wizards offense with four home runs. He is hitting .263 with five doubles, a pair of triples and 12 runs batted in.
Culp, a left-hander, is 6-3, with his six wins leading the staff. In 11 starts, he has a 3.50 earned run average and in 64 1/3 innings, the University of Missouri product has allowed 60 hits, 11 walks and struck out 42.
Rodriguez is 1-1 with a 5.55 ERA, but a team-best 10 saves. In 22 games and 24 1/3 innings, the Miami, Florida native has allowed 35 hits, walked six and struck out 22.
The West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate) and Dayton Dragons (Cincinnati Reds affiliate) lead the Eastern Division squad with eight selections each.
