Deal, Cougars Stifle L'Kings
June 5, 2007 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Kane County Cougars News Release
GENEVA, IL. - Scott Deal posted his second straight quality start, Greg Dowling drove in three runs and Scott Moore saved his seventh game as the Kane County Cougars defeated the Clinton LumberKings, 4-2, in the finale of a four-game series Tuesday night in front of 4,045 at Elfstrom Stadium.
Gustavo Rosendo's sacrifice fly in the second off Kasey Kiker (1-2) gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead, and Dowling smoked a bases-loaded, two-run single in the third for a 3-0 score.
Meanwhile Deal (3-4) was on cruise control, giving up three singles through four innings and retiring a Cougars season-high 11 in a row at point. He allowed one run -- in the seventh -- on five hits, walked none for the second time this season and fanned four. Moore yielded one run in the eighth, but the Cougars countered with Dowling's run-scoring double before Moore's perfect ninth.
The Cougars (16-42) are off Wednesday and start a six-game road trip and four-game series in Wisconsin on Thursday night at 7:05 CDT. Andrew Bailey (0-3, 4.13) will take the mound against Kyle Parker (2-2, 1.42) for the Timber Rattlers.
