Dragons Stun Lugnuts With Walk-Off Homer

Dayton, Ohio - In a game that went back and forth all night, it fittinigly came down to last swing. Eddy Rodriguez took the first pitch from Paul Phillips in the bottom of the ninth inning over the left field wall to lift the Dayton Dragons to a 5-4 walk-off win over the Lansing Lugnuts at Fifth Third Field Tuesday night. The win salvages a split of the series for the Dragons.

Lansing had tied the game in the top half of the frame when Matt Liuzza blasted the first pitch from Jose Rojas over the right-center field wall to knot the score at 4-4.

The score was tied 1-1 in the third when Justin Turner led the inning off with a triple and scored on a a Juan Francisco double to make it a 2-1 lead for Dayton. Logan Parker grounded into a fielder's choice later in the frame to plate Francisco to push the advantage to 3-1.

The Lugnuts were able to fight back in the fifth inning to tie the game once again when Travis Snider laced a single into left-center field to score Jonathan Diaz and Raul Barron to make it a 3-3 game.

Dayton was able to regain the lead in the sixth when Yuber Rodriguez dropped a fly ball in center field that allowed Chris Heisey to score from third base to make it 4-3. The score would stay that way until the Liuzza homer in the ninth.

Lansing (30-26) will take Wednesday off before returning home on Thursday night to take on the South Bend SilverHawks in a four game set. It will be a Molson Thirsty Thursday, with beer and soda on-sale for $2. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
