Forward Kenny Ryan Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Kenny Ryan has been assigned by the Maple Leafs from the Marlies to the Royals. In a separate transaction undertaken today, defenseman Dave Cowan was activated from the 21-Day Injured Reserve. In another transaction previously announced, defenseman Marc Cantin was placed on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

This marks the second trip to Reading for Ryan, a first year pro from Franklin, Michigan. He was originally assigned to Reading on January 5, 2012, and played twenty-nine games with the Royals, scoring twelve goals and assisting on nine others. Ryan was recalled to the Marlies on March 10. In this stint with Toronto, he played three games without registering any points or penalty minutes. In sixteen games with the Marlies, Ryan has scored one goal and registered nine penalty minutes. Cowan, a first year pro from Calgary, Alberta, sustained an injury on February 20 and missed sixteen games on the Injured Reserve. In forty games with the Royals, he has eight points (1g-7a) and forty-six penalty minutes.

The Royals return to action tonight (Wednesday, March 28, 2012 @ 7:05 pm) when the Wheeling Nailers make their final regular season appearance at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. It's Advertiser Appreciation Night and select draft beer will be just $2.00. Wednesday's game night broadcast will start at 6:35 pm with the Red Robin Gourmet Burger Pre-Game Warm-up Show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Reading.
