
Tomassoni, Tiesling Bolster Chicago Roster

Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL and proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced today that they have signed D Matt Tomassoni to a Standard Player Contract and F Patrick Tiesling to an Amateur Tryout Agreement. Both players have recently completed their collegiate careers with Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Tomassoni, 22, joins the Express after completing a four year career with the Miami University Redhawks. The 5-10, 170 pound defenseman played 138 games during his four years at Miami, notching 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points. His best statistical season came last year, when he scored 15 points on six goals and nine assists in 36 games. That year, the Redhawks went on to win the CCHA Championship to compliment the CCHA Regular Season Championship from 2009-10. The Carol Stream, IL, native also played 99 games over the span of two seasons, registering nine goals and 22 assists along with 92 PIM.
Tiesling, 24, joined the Miami Redhawks after two years with the Bowling Green State University Falcons. In his first year with the Redhawks, Tiesling notched his first collegiate goal and was part of the CCHA Championship squad. The 6-2, 210 pound forward appeared in 68 games with Miami, scoring 16 points on four goals and 12 assists. Prior to joining Miami, Tiesling also played two seasons with the Bowling Green State University Falcons where he registered nine points, all assists, in 64 games. The Rhinelander, WI, native played two years in the USHL, both with the Sioux Falls Stampede, from 2005-2007, including winning the Clark Cup during the 2005-06 season. In 115 USHL games, Tiesling picked up 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points and 89 PIM.
The Express host Cincinnati tonight and Kalamazoo on Friday, March 30,both at the Sears Centre Arena. Friday night is a Dollar Friday, featuring one dollar beers and one dollar hot dogs. The specially priced items will be sold until midway through the third period.
