Alaska Falls to Las Vegas 4-2

The Las Vegas Wranglers scored three goals in the second period inside a six-minute span en route to a 4-2 win over the Alaska Aces on Tuesday night from the Orleans Arena. Despite the loss the Aces still lowered their magic number for a regular season Western Conference title to two points thanks to a 3-0 Ontario loss in Colorado. Alaska kept a four point lead over Ontario in the Western Conference standings with three games to go. The Aces fell to 42-17-10 on the season, and will have another chance to wrap up the conference crown on Wednesday night. The Aces head to Bakersfield on Wednesday before returning to Ontario this weekend to complete the final week of the regular season. The Aces will return back home for the postseason in April. The clubs both had chances in a back and forth first period, but it was Alaska who struck first with a late goal. Brian Swanson scored from the top of the crease at 17:36. The play began with a shot from the left point from Brandon Gentile who recorded an assist in his return to the Aces lineup. The Aces outshot the Wranglers 11-10 in the first period.

The Wranglers came out and dominated the second period erupting for three goals in less than six minutes to take control of the game. Eric Lampe started the run with his league-leading 36th goal of the season at 4:29. Adam Miller then scored at 9:31 to give Vegas the lead. The Wranglers followed that up 38 seconds later when Ash Goldie scored in his first game since a three month absence to make it 3-1 Las Vegas. The Aces closed the gap to one goal when Tyson Marsh scored on a rebound from the slot at 16:49 to make it 3-2 Wranglers after two periods. The Aces were outshot 17-7 in the period.

The Wranglers extended their lead to 4-2 with a Judd Blackwater goal at 8:26 to wrap up the game, giving the Wranglers the win.

Gerald Coleman (18-5-3) took the shootout loss, making 32 saves on 36 shots. Mitch O' Keefe (9-9-2) picked up the win. The Aces power play went 0-2, while the Wranglers went 0-1. The Aces were outshot by the Wranglers 36-28 in the game.

The Aces head to Bakersfield on Wednesday before returning to Ontario this weekend to complete the final week of the regular season. The Aces will return back home for the postseason in April.
