Former Timber Rattler Brett Lawrie makes MLB debut tonight GRAND CHUTE, WI - Brett Lawrie played for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2009. Tonight he makes his major league debut with the Toronto Blue Jays.

Lawrie was the first round pick of the Brewers in 2008 and began his professional career with the Rattlers when the team became the Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers in 2009. Lawrie was a Midwest League All-Star at second base and hit .274 with 13 homers and 65 RBI that season.

After the 2010 season, Lawrie was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for Shaun Marcum. Lawrie, a native of Langley, British Columbia in Canada, was hitting .353 with 18 homers and 61 RBI in 69 games for Las Vegas, the Pacific Coast League affiliate of the Blue Jays, before getting the call on Thursday.

Toronto has placed Lawrie in the starting lineup for tonight's game. He is playing third base and batting ninth as the Blue Jays start a series in Baltimore against the Orioles. Lawrie becomes the 73rd Timber Rattlers player to make the major leagues since the team started in 1995.
