Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING, Mich. - The South Bend Silver Hawks (18-22, 52-57) stormed back from an early deficit with a five-run sixth inning to top the Lansing Lugnuts (25-15, 63-44), 6-4 and split the four-game series in front of 10,237 on Friday night at Jackson Field
The Lugnuts led 3-1 going into the key sixth inning, when the Hawks roughed up starter Sean Nolin (Loss, 2-3). Gerson Montilla jacked a three-run homer to grab the lead, and David Narodowski capped off the scoring with a solo shot of his own off reliever Aleson Escalante.
Lansing flexed its offensive muscles with home runs from Garis Pena and Marcus Knecht, a triple from Carlos Perez, and an early two-run double from Jake Marisnick, but the Lugs were stymied late by Silver Hawks pitching.
South Bend starter Mike Bolsinger (Win, 5-5) limited the damage in six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three. The Silver Hawks bullpen shut down the Lugs offense behind Kable Hogben and Blake Cooper in the final three innings, and salvaged the series split.
Tyler Powell (2-2, 5.25) heads to the mound at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday night at Parkview Field as the Lugnuts travel to Fort Wayne to take on Keyvius Sampson (8-2, 2.81) and the TinCaps for four games. Lansing then heads to South Bend for a three-game set against the Silver Hawks.
The Lugnuts will be back in action at Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday, August 13, against the Fort Wayne TinCaps with LAFCU Fireworks following the game. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.lansinglugnuts.com, at the stadium box office, and by calling 517-485-4500.
