Quad Cities collects 11 hits in loss

The Quad Cities River Bandits lost to the Cedar Rapids Kernels 6-5 in extra innings Thursday, in front of 2,871 fans at Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Quad Cities took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning when Jonathan Rodriguez (1-for-5) singled to score Ronny Gil (1-for-5). Later in the inning, Nick Longmire (1-for-4) singled to score Oscar Taveras (1-for-3) to take the early lead.

The Bandits allowed one run in the third, before scoring two more runs in the fourth inning when Gil was hit by a pitch to score Geoff Klein (1-for-4). Later in the inning, Oscar Taveras hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Packy Elkins (2-for-3). The Bandits led the entire game until allowing runs in the final three innings to take the loss.

Bandit starter Trevor Rosenthal went five innings allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five. Aiden Lucas (L, 1-4) came into the game in the ninth and allowed two runs on three hits.

Cedar Rapids reliever Daniel Tillman (W, 5-3) was credited with the win. The pitcher went 1.1 innings allowing just one hit to pick up the victory.

The River Bandits continue the series with Cedar Rapids on Friday. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
