TONIGHT: The Richmond Flying Squirrels and Trenton Thunder will meet in the opener of a three-game series...David Mixon surrendered a go-ahead three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning and the Harrisburg Senators completed the series sweep of the Flying Squirrels with a 4-3 win on Thursday night at The Diamond.

TONIGHT'S STARTER: Left-hander Clayton Tanner gets the start in the opener of the series for the Flying Squirrels...Received a no-decision on 5/30 against Bowie after giving up two runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings...Struck out three and walked one...Start was his first since being placed on the DL 5/18 with a left oblique strain...Both runs and four of the six hits he allowed came in the third inning...Threw 22 pitches in the inning...Threw 73 pitches total, 47 strikes...Was on an 80 pitch limit...Allowed the leadoff man to reach in three of his first four innings...Recorded seven ground outs and four fly outs...Induced two double play ground balls...Only walk he allowed came to the final batter he faced...Outing was his longest since 5/6 against Altoona...Had thrown a combined 5 2/3 innings over his previous two starts...Had failed to go four full innings in his previous two starts...Had allowed 10 runs, nine earned, on 13 hits in 5 2/3 in his previous two outings before landing on the DL.

Right-hander Lance Pendleton gets the nod in the opener of the series for the Thunder...Got the win for the second straight start after allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings of work 5/30 at New Hampshire...Matched a season-high with six strike outs and walked two...Is 2-0 over his last two starts having allowed just two runs on six hits over his last 14 innings of work (1.29 ERA)...Has gone six innings or more in four of his last five outings (all quality starts)...Has struck out 43 and walked 26 in 53 1/3 innings...Has issued multiple walks in nine of his 11 outings...Ranks third in the Eastern League with a .212 batting average against...Made eight starts with Double-A Trenton in 2009...Went 1-3 with a 4.47 ERA...Struck out 43 and walked 15 in 44 1/3 innings...Began 2009 season with Advanced-A Tampa and went 11-5 with a 2.58 ERA...Struck out 87 batters and walked 31 in 104 2/3 innings of work...Pitched a career-high 149 innings in 2009...Missed all of 2006 with a right elbow injury...Selected by the New York Yankees in the 4th round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft...Attended Rice University...Went to the College World Series with Rice in 2004.

SWEEPLESS: The Flying Squirrels were swept for the second time this season after falling in last night's series finale to the Senators...The only other time the club was swept in a series was 4/12-4/14 at Altoona...Richmond had avoided sweeps after dropping the first two games against Erie (5/18-5/19) and at Reading (5/21-5/22).

AT A LOSS: With last night's loss against the Senators, the Flying Squirrels have matched their longest losing streak of the season...The club also dropped five games in a row on its opening road trip through Bowie and Altoona (4/10-4/14)...The club is batting just .188 (31-for-165) over the last five games with 45 strike outs and 14 walks...The Flying Squirrels are slugging just .224 over that span with only five extra base hits (four doubles, one triple)...Overall, Richmond has lost 10 of its last 12 home games after starting the season 13-3 at The Diamond.

SERIES OF LOSSES: Richmond is 0-4-2 over its last six series...The Flying Squirrels have dropped three-game sets to Erie (5/18-5/20), Reading (5/21-5/23), and Harrisburg (6/1-6/3) while also losing three of four to Bowie (5/28-5/31)...The club has split four-game series with Altoona (5/13-5/16) and Binghamton (5/24-5/27)...Overall on the season, Richmond is 6-7-3 in series.

BEHIND THE CURVE: The Flying Squirrels trail the Altoona Curve in the Western Division by nine games entering play today...It is the farthest the club has been out of first place this season...Richmond had a 1 1/2 game lead over Altoona on 5/14..Since that date, the Flying Squirrels are 5-14 while the Curve is 16-4...The Flying Squirrels are in fourth place in the standings for the first time since 4/19...The club is at .500 for the first since 4/21 when it was 7-7.

HERE'S THE CATCH: Catcher Jackson Williams went 0-for-14 with five strike outs in four games played on the recent home stand...The 24-year-old began the season with an 11-game hit streak (14-for-34) but is batting just .096 (9-for-94) over his last 30 games...His average has dropped from .412 to .180 over that span...Williams sat out the final two games of the series with Harrisburg, marking the first time this season he not appeared in consecutive games.

DOUBLETREE DOWNTOWN DOUBLE PLAYS: The Richmond Flying Squirrels have turned 67 double plays in 54 games including six on 5/7 in Harrisburg...The club leads the Eastern League in double plays turned and has not gone more than two games without turning a double play.

CFS STAT OF THE NIGHT: The Flying Squirrels lost for just the second time this season when leading after five innings...The club is now 20-2 when leading after five...Right-hander David Mixon also lost for the first time in six starts when pitching six innings or more...He was previously 5-0 and had allowed four runs total of the five contests.
