New Britain Rock Cats News Release

NEW BRITAIN, CT - Binghamton's Reese Havens slugged a solo home run - his second homer of the game - to leadoff the tenth inning to power the Mets to a 4-3 victory over the Rock Cats on Friday night.

Binghamton took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third when Havens hit his first homer - a two-run shot - over the right field wall off Tyler Robertson.

The Rock Cats got on the board in the bottom of the inning. Chris Cates reached base on a one-out walk and Ben Revere followed with a fielder's choice to second base that allowed Cates to advance to second. Brandon Roberts then knocked in Cates with line drive base hit to left to close the gap, 2-1.

Erik Lis delivered an RBI single in the sixth inning that tied the game. The game remained locked at 2-2 until the top of the eighth when Rock Cats relief man Cole DeVries allowed a leadoff single to Jose Coronado before uncorking a wild pitch that allowed the runner to advance to second. DeVries then issued two consecutive free passes to load the bases before Lucas Duda dropped a single into left field to score Coronado for the go-ahead run.

The Rock Cats answered back again in the bottom of the eighth. Roberts opened the inning with a walk and moved to second on Rene Tosoni's sacrifice bunt. Binghamton reliever Derrick Ellison forced Lis to fly out to center before Yangervis Solarte knocked in Roberts with a single to center to tie the game, 3-3.

Robertson tossed six solid innings, limiting the B-Mets to two runs on three hits. He struck out five but came away with the no-decision and remains 0-5 on the season. Santos Arias was the hard-luck loser. After tossing a scoreless ninth, the lone hit Arias (0-7) allowed in two innings of relief was the game-winning home run.

Clint Everts (3-1) picked up the win with four strikeouts in two shutout innings of relief for the B-Mets.
